....How to get here

Getting to Bluefields over land (and partially water) takes time and effort, but is possible. You can take a boat from Mercado Mayores in Managua to El Rama (around $7.00). After a day traveling you can take a boat from El Rama, the next day, that brings you right to Bluefields, is about two hours for less than $10.00.

Another option is taking the plane from Managua. This takes only a couple hours. There are several flights a day (check with the airlines for the schedule and prices).

Besides visiting Bluefields you can also visit the Pearl Lagoon and the Miskito villages where most people speak Miskito.

Meet Bluefields

We extend you the most cordial welcome to the city of Bluefields, a harbor town located on the caribbean coast of Nicaragua. Bluefields is the capital of the South Atlantic Autonomous Region of Nicaragua. With it's caribbean flavor, Bluefields is the ideal destination for those who are looking for something entirely different.
